The Price of Fame

16.09.21

This month’s story is ‘The Price of Fame’ – a good, old-fashioned, twist-in-the-tale adventure yarn. Why are there not more of them published these days? A dangerous quest, a grisly discovery, a fatal mistake – they haven’t stopped being exciting! This gripping story is by Robert Cranbrook, who was brought up in industrial Lancashire but has lived for the last 35 years in rural Dorset.

He says: “I can’t remember a time when I did not have a book to hand. I devour books, lose myself in them and find myself transported to other places and times. For me, a book is to be read and reread and I relish reliving the experience of an author’s craft and research, and imagination.  I have a shelf filled with Patrick O’Brian’s Jack Aubrey novels which I read every 18 months or so and it’s something to aspire to. When I write, I live the experiences of my characters, visualise their surroundings, and hear their voices. I hope my readers find some of this in my work.”
