New Terrain
14.06.21

We’re trying a new venture at the cafe this month. Rather than the usual short story, I’ll be posting a poem by a different poet I admire each week for the next seven weeks – the first starting tomorrow.
The theme of the collection is ‘Terrain’.
It feels as if the pandemic has left us all with a much deeper insight into the importance of our own territory – whether that’s rolling countryside, a town centre, or a bedsit. I thought it would be interesting to see how different writers interpreted the idea. Luckily, I know some very talented poets – including the members of ‘Wordbrew’, a Gloucestershire-based group founded by Iris Anne Lewis in 2018, who kindly agreed to take part in the project.
People will be able to download a written version of each poem if they prefer – but I hope they will listen, as I think the recordings of the poets reading their own works are something special. Please do feedback. If people enjoy the poems, I can add to the collection later in the year.
